I read quickly through your reply which I found very well founded. It's worth noting that the Est connection is not exactly coincidental as Synanon was a rage miracle cure to the social ills of addiction. their were many people learning or cloning the idea of the game. There is a fine line of truth that is often missed. Hsu-su the traditional Chinese practice of peer pressure that is essentially egalitarian and tribal which was often successfully used by revolutionaries within the communist movement. It was also undermined by a bureaucratic political elite, but in a not so different way the western europium method of social orders such as the saxon one hundreds or various commune systems were corrupted in their transformation into the modern jury system and the development of statutory rather than common law. Delineating between the game and the traditional cultural mechanism it corrupts is very important to recognizing the game itself. The game constituted what might be an almost natural evolution in a bureaucratic environment. Managerial authority is quite capable of justifying itself in the use of some hard ball control tactics even in cases where a high ethical standard is imposed, especially when these tactics are taught by a trusted source. What is scary about Synanon and straight inc, as well perhaps of some factions with my step fathers organizational network, is that it is a systematic and adept studying and developing of these methods of control in order to applied with legal sanction onto already dis-empowered individuals such as convicted criminals and wayward youth. In additional this includes those youths whose choice of social options (from being Gay to being a revolutionary) whose parents and peers have strongly bought into a sanctioned world vision. I do not know but I would not at all be surprised if president bush overcame his college and post college drug addiction with help from Straight inc. It is likely why he is highly committed to the drug war, although I tend to assume he has a great deal of double standard in how he approaches the drug abuses of him and his daughters, or the son or daughter of a CEO or even a democratic senator than to say the daughter or son of a welfare mom, a McDonalds shift manager or a house keeper.

I might use some of the content of this letter in one of the blogs I am developing. It helps sometimes just getting some of the thoughts down organized in some form. I think really that part of developing a flourishing anarchist society is when people begin to reflect not only on what choices society forces on them as individuals, but also understand in what choices the society they support may force on others. I think it might even be argued that this is a prerequisite with understanding sides with a class struggle against oppression while we live in a society were the loyal opposition is dedicated to a believe that there is no sides.
